English is compulsorary for all degree programmes at the Neu-Ulm University of Sciences (HNU).

English courses for the degree programmes at the HNU:

Business Studies (BW)

English in Business Studies

During the module Basics of Business (Business Studies + Business English) you will learn to communicate in English with the focus on business. You will learn how to deal with everyday workplace situations (e.g. dealing with customers, taking part in telephone conferences, writing orders) in English and to cope with academic tasks (e.g. writing statistical analyses, listening to and reading reports).

  • 1st semester: 4 teaching hours per week
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week *
Industrial Engineering (WIN)

English for Industrial Engineering:

The focus in your Industrial Engineering degree programme is on Business English and the course will cover such topics as Trade, Cultures and Finance.

  • 1st semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on speaking skills
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on reading and writing skills*
Industrial Engineering / Logistics (WIL)

English for Industrial Engineering / Logistics :

The focus in your Industrial Engineering / Logistics degree programme is on Business English and the course will cover such topics as Team-Building, Motivation, Supply Chain management and Finance.

  • 1st semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on speaking skills
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on reading and writing skills*
Information Management and Corporate Communications (IMUK)

English for Information Management and Corporate Communications:

The course in your Information Management and Corporate Communications degree programme is concerned with Business English and covers topics such as International Marketing, Motivation and Team-building.

  • 1st semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on listening and reading skills
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on speaking and writing skills *
Business Information Systems (WIF)

English for Business Information Systems

The focus in your Business Information Systems degree programme is on reading and speaking skills:

  • 1st semester (elective): 4 teaching hours per week, focus on reading and listening skills
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on presentation and writing skills*
Business Studies in Healthcare Management (BGW)

English for Business Studies in Healthcare Management:

In your Business Studies in Healthcare Management degree programme, the focus is on:

Business English I (4 teaching hours, exam: listening and reading) is a compulsory course and is offered in the first semester.

Business English II (4 teaching hours) is an elective and is offered later in the course from the second semester. The exam focuses on presentation and writing skills.*

Information Management in Healthcare (IG)

Information Systems in Health Care Management:

The compulsory course Business English (4 teaching hours) is taught in the second semester and the focus of the exam is on listening and reading.

The elective course Business and Technical English (4 teaching hours) is offered in the third semester and the exam focus is on presentation and writing skills.*

Information Management Automotive (IMA)

English for Information Management Automotive:

The focus in your English for Information Management Automotive degree is on Business English and the course will cover such topics as Competitive environment, Change management, Project management, Autonomous driving, Marketing in the automotive industry, Branding and Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • 1st semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on speaking and listening skills
  • 2nd semester: 4 teaching hours per week, focus on reading and writing skills
