Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) Women's Representative

Female professor – an interesting and multi-faceted profession offering ample room for individual interests

About 35 years ago the universities of applied sciences were founded in Germany. Today, many professors are due to retire. We, the women’s representatives, see this as chance to reduce the underrepresentation of women. You personally also have the chance to apply if you have the necessary qualification and apply correctly. We have designed this guide to assist you in approaching a profession characterised by challenging tasks in practical research and teaching, a high degree of personal autonomy and independence as to time, as well as much interaction with young people. Should you have any specific questions we would be glad to assist you in a face-to-face interview. There are women’s representatives at every Bavarian university. They are entitled to vote in the search and appointment procedure.

The prerequisites to be appointed are stipulated by civil law in every German federal state. We compiled for you the criteria decisive in Bavaria, apart from the general age limit (52 years):

"Take over the lecture halls" - an initiative of the women's representatives of the universities of applied sciences in Bavaria

The employment agencies will also provide you with a detailed description of the job: Professorin/Professor an Hochschulen (Professor (male or female) at the universities), Blätter zur Berufskunde 3-||| E 02.

Here you can find the latest overview of the degree programmes at the universities of applied sciences in Bavaria.
