Christmas market for a good cause: HNU students donate 1,250 euros for the tissue typing campaign of the Neu-Ulm Campus Lions Club
The Students' Union is to donate the €1,250 in proceeds from this year's HNU Christmas market to the Neu-Ulm Campus Lions Club. The money will support a tissue typing campaign in spring.
For three days, employees, students and teachers alike could enjoy mulled wine, punch and sweet treats such as waffles (offered by the Neu-Ulm Campus Lions Club) at the HNU Christmas market and do something for a good cause at the same time.
Ann-Kathrin Stückl of the Students' Union organised the Christmas market with the help of the Neu-Ulm Campus Lions Club. "We're very happy with the market's success. Students, teachers and staff bought a lot of punch and many waffles and thus donated €1,250. The proceeds will finance 25 tissue typing procedures in spring," said Ann-Kathrin Stückl.
The Lions Club Campus Neu-Ulm supports the social and cultural needs of society, helping people in the region and all over the world. The club will use the donation from the HNU Christmas market for a tissue typing campaign on 16 April 2016 to find potential stem cell donors. 691 people were typed in 2014 – and that campaign saved three lives.
The HNU students organised support in the form of donations in kind from the city of Neu-Ulm, Lebkuchen Weiß in Neu-Ulm and Früchte Jork in Isny.
