Studying in the land of a thousand and one nights – cultural and academic exchange with the German University of Technology in Oman
Students at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) can now study at the German University of Technology in Oman. President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser signed the agreement during an excursion as part of the HNU cultural programme under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sibylle Brunner.
“On the one hand, Oman has an awareness of tradition, and on the other, it has a cosmopolitan, tolerant and politically neutral stance. For students that is particularly enriching, “ said Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser. Forty HNU students and staff were guests in the land of 1,001 nights as part of a cultural programme excursion which offered a visit to the new partner university, the German University of Technology in Oman, as well as visits to the State Council and the Ministry of Health. In the winter semester, a student and staff exchange between both universities is planned, and this will enable deeper cultural understanding.
The HNU Cultural Programme is an interdisciplinary and intercultural range of events organized by the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences for all students, staff and their families; each semester, cultural events are offered around a specific theme, viewed through a variety of artistic and academic standpoints. In the winter semester 2017 / 2018, the HNU Cultural Programme’s theme was ‘A thousand and one nights’ and included the exhibition ‘Tolerance – Understanding – Coexistence’ initiated by the Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, and under the patronage of the Bavarian Minister for European Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Beate Merk.
