East-Africa Network of Excellence for Universities of Applied Sciences
Network-building and qualification measures for the model of German universities of applied sciences in Kenya – a joint German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) project between the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) and the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI).
The objective of the project is to acquaint representatives of Kenyan universities with the concept of universities of applied sciences in Germany, in particular the three most important elements of application-oriented teaching and research, and the transfer of knowledge and technology.
The representatives of seven Kenyan universities have attended a first workshop on the topic of ‘Applied Approaches to Teaching’ at the HNU and THI and were briefed by professors of both universities of allied sciences. The President of the HNU, Prof. Uta M. Feser, and the Presidents of the THI and Hof, Prof. Walter Schober and Prof. Jürgen Lehmann, all spoke about the perspectives of Bavarian universities of applied sciences, and the programme was completed with visits to companies.
A further stay in Germany for the Kenyan university representatives is planned for the end of November.
