Fire Prevention at the HNU
Fire prevention is a collective task in which every one of you can play a part. Appropriate behaviour can be crucial in preventing fire and in minimising damage and even saving lives in the event of a fire.
All Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) staff are required to aid in fire prevention measures and to follow fire prevention regulations and instructions. Make sure you do not do anything that could cause fire or obstruct fire-fighting (such as wedging doors open).
Stop any action by third parties that could cause fire and report it to the Fire Prevention Officer.
Fire Protection Officers and Fire Protection Assistants
The Fire Prevention Officer at the HNU is Ms Kirsten Joachim. Her principal duty is to implement fire prevention measures, such as drafting and updating the fire prevention regulations and organising fire prevention courses and practical drills for all staff in collaboration with Neu-Ulm Fire Brigade. Kirsten Joachim is supported by the HNU Fire Protection Assistants whose task is to help raise awareness of fire-fighting procedures at the HNU and to assist in evacuations.
HNU fire prevention regulations
The fire prevention regulations of the HNU consist of rules to prevent fire from breaking out as well as instructions on how to behave and which measures to take in the event of fire. All HNU staff are bound to act in accordance with these fire prevention regulations. Please note that there are three separate sets of fire prevention regulations – one joint one for the HNU main building and the Castle Vöhlin Seminar Centre, one for the Edison Center (Edisonallee 1, 5 and 7) and one for Steubenstrasse 17. The fire prevention regulations are continually reviewed and adjusted.
