The Neu-Ulm University (HNU) was awarded the "E-Quality Label" for its successful encouragement and support of the international
mobility of its students and staff. It is thus one of 8 German universities –
and the only one in Bavaria – to be distinguished in 2008 by the National Agency of the
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for its Erasmus programme.
Independent
experts assessed criteria such as innovation, its results and advantages, the
quality of the implementation and administration of the measures for
facilitating mobility and their sustainability.
The HNU was recognised for its
holistic concept of main focal courses taught in English in the
three main study blocks International Business Administration, International Management and
Leadership and International Logistics, partnerships with numerous universities
in other European countries, the mutual recognition of exams as well as study
courses with dual degree awards and a Ph.D. programme.
Other
success factors are the language courses, intercultural training and
comprehensive counselling and support.
"We’ve created scholarships out of the
student contributions, we advise students individually and bring together
German and foreign students on excursions and through arranging partnerships in
the tandem programme," said Christian Renner, the deputy head of the
International Office.
About 100 students per year go abroad to study or to
complete a placement in a company or organisation.
